Everyone has used an audio guide inside a museum before. Well now you can have your own audio guide outside as you walk through the historic streets of London!

With 19 stops, WalkAppBouts City of London Guide is an historical walking tour app on your iPhone that takes you away from the crowds and off exploring some of the City of Londons oldest, most fascinating but least known corners.

Using the iPhones GPS and compass, your phone becomes your own personal tour guide, taking you easily from one stop to the next with turn by turn instructions. You can start when you want, finish when you want, and wander off and explore wherever you want.

The app includes a detailed audio guide written by people who are passionate about Londons history and includes historical photographs and pictures to help you imagine what London was like in the past.

Duration: The walk includes 19 stops and can be completed in 3 hours. However, to get the most out of your trip, we would recommend allowing extra time to stop off and explore some of the buildings and monuments that you will find on this walk.

There is no need to incur any costly data roaming charges with this app. The map is not vital to be able to use this app but for users with the latest iOS6 operating system, Apple Maps offers much better map caching for international travellers than the previous map software. Just connect to the internet using wifi, open Apple Maps and scroll around London. Your Apple device will save the whole map of London in its memory for offline use for the rest of your trip. Users with older iOS5 software will still find the app easy to use as the map is not at all essential to navigation.
